ABLE Accounts launch events through December

Oregonians with disabilities will be able to save money without fear of losing their state and federal benefits starting Tuesday, December 6

Using the Oregon ABLE Savings Plan, Oregonians will receive several tax advantages, including a state income tax deduction and tax-free earnings on investments that are spent on disability-related expenses, like housing, education, medical expenses and more.

People can sign up for the plan starting Dec. 6 at Oregonians who open an Oregon ABLE Savings Plan account before Jan. 1, 2018, will receive a 50 percent discount on the annual fee.

The Oregon ABLE Savings Plan will host free launch events throughout the state to celebrate and answer questions in person. Those events will take place during the first two weeks of December. The schedule is below:

5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1: Linus Middle School Auditorium, 1111 NW Cleveland Ave., Corvallis
5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6: University of Oregon White Stag Building, 70 NW Couch St., Portland
5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec.7: Center for Meetings and Learning, 101 W. 10th Ave., Eugene
5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8: Medford Library, 205 S. Central Ave., Medford
5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13: OSU Cascades Campus, Tykeson Hall, 1500 SW Chandler Ave., Bend
5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14: Pendleton Performing Arts Center, 214 N. Main St., Pendleton
