For more than 40 years, Jan has promoted the independence, empowerment, and well-being of people with disabilities. For 23 years, she served as the Disability Project Coordinator for the City of Portland and Multnomah County.
Since retiring in 2006, she has worked with OHSU to train individuals with disabilities in improving their clinical care. She co-facilitates cognitive behavioral therapy groups for women with physical disabilities experiencing depression.
Currently, Jan works as an on-call Information and Assistant Specialist for Multnomah County’s Aging and Disability Resource Connection and for Disabilities through Disability Awareness Resource Team (DART).
She serves as the Chair of TriMet’s Committee on Accessible Transportation, a Commissioner on the Oregon’s Disabilities Commission, and a member of the Northwest ADA Center’s Regional Advisory Committee. Her professional honors include a lifetime achievement award given by the Oregon Disabilities Commission the 2015 Women of Achievement Award by the Oregon Commission for Women.
Jan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Portland State University.
